For sometime I have been outspoken with regard to what can only be described as an autocracy more aligned, to Sicily than Liverpool, supported by a plutocracy who have all gained favour through their aligned auspicious endeavours, this style of leadership has not been seen in living memory and has gained its increasing gregarious form, with every unchallenged decision, Lowering our City into a serious decline.
“I fully support this decision by Michael Gove and I think it has been inevitable ever since the government served notice on Liverpool by appointing commissioners in the spring to oversee parts of the authority after inspectors found a “serious breakdown of governance”. The Government even gifted our political elite a clear path to tow the line, with a reprieve only to be rebuffed when Cllr Nick Small, went against the Governments clear guidelines of fewer Cllr’s, to state that the Council had voted to reduce that number to 85 from 90
“Despite a new administration coming in this year to try and clear up the mess created by the previous mayor Joe Anderson and restore confidence in the city, sadly Whitehall’s trust in Liverpool has been severely damaged whether we like it or not our politicians have been caught with their hands in the till, we have the poorest track record on openness and transparency, with at least 65 sites being gifted away without a standard U.K. Council process being adhered to. I believe this number is low compared to the actuality of hundreds. Liverpool’s political elite had become too accustomed to being able to gift away under their delegated powers, which may have scantily kept within their Governance, which ensures that they have done nothing illegal, but they are certainly morally corrupt.
We can clearly see that the path back to political leadership for Joe Anderson is obsolete, we can also see that there has been severe transgressions in his leadership, but I do believe that there is a trap door waiting for him, that will hit him hard, it will all come down to CASH and where it came from, this is a path that is yet to unfold.
“Let’s not be under any illusion the government is extremely angry with Liverpool, because Joe Anderson, the UK’s first elected city mayor, who they believed they could work with, has, they feel, been duplicitous, dishonest and dragged the city into the mire of what seems to be seamless fraud and corruption.
I believe we are about to see many more arrests, but this time there will be charges and with this debacle we will see the possibility of a complete Whitehall takeover.
“So, Liverpool needs to start again after years of maladministration, at levels never witnessed by any form of Governance in the U.K. the extent of which is still coming to light, and while the new mayor Joanne Anderson is pushing in the right direction clearly the government has decided that the best way for Liverpool to recover is for them to administer it themselves, but sadly the old regime that has clearly supported the improprieties of our ex Mayor Joe Anderson, have still been left in positions of power.
“Even recently it’s as if Liverpool has not heeded the warnings from the Max Caller report which found a shocking list of failures particularly in planning and regeneration, which has seemingly allowed land to be sold off cheaply and property developers to mess with our built environment as they see fit and with the Council allowing them to do so. That’s either corruption or ineptitude. Either way it’s embarrassing.
Here is the very damning Max Caller report.
At least 100 Million of pounds has been squandered over at least 65 sites, as stated by the Max Caller report, I believe this is just the foundation of what will be a much larger number, while contracts have been given out under the proviso that favours where honoured. I feel that this is merely the tip of the iceberg and with time we will see the enormity of what this regime has stolen from our Cities assets. Our Mayor has hailed from our rooftops of our imminent decline due to the strangled position this Government which has placed us in and yet in my view, if our local Council would have played with a straight bat, we would have kept our youth centres open, we would have ensured our most vulnerable were adequately cared for. Due to the fact that £100 million split over a three year period would ensure that each ward would gain in excess of £20k per week, to help our declining suburbs.
“Cllr Doyle is a new broom in the Labour group appointed by the new mayor to her role, but many of her Labour colleagues on the committee are the same old councillors from the previous controversial regime.
“I’m not saying that this decision is corrupt, but it is irresponsible and is simply not sending the right message in my view – to the public, to business, to central government. It makes it more than evident that we need to clear the decks and start again.
Our committee’s are filled with Councillors who are tarred with the same Joe Anderson brush, who gained their position through loyalty and friendship to our ex mayor, surely they must have known of the improprieties that have been going on for years, surely.
“It’s why I believe that being governed by Whitehall and not the Labour or Conservative party will give the stability and Governance which will gain the political and business World Community the confidence to continue and even enhance our investment potential with the stability that they bring. Regaining trust and reputation, has to be the first building block of our new Liverpool, with our sights set on a possible new form of Governance in all of our sights after 2023.
“If we don’t tackle this situation properly and cut that branch to the quick it will never grow straight again.”
